WHAT UP!?
I’m Kelley
I’m a Therapist, Business Coach, Mother, and Founder of The Private Practice Pro.
I help therapists go from overwhelmed to booked with simple action plans that get the phone ringing (and are actually fun). Let’s build your dream practice—minus the burnout!
Very into: audio books, organizing my fridge, and creating simple strategies to fill your schedule and love your work.
I didn’t always have a thriving six-figure private practice…
In fact, just a few years ago, you could have found me in community mental health, making $16 an hour, sweating it out in a windowless office with no air conditioning. I thought that was the path, but the burnout was real. When I finally landed a job as a staff therapist in a group practice, I thought I’d found my dream role—but that dream quickly faded as I realized that having a boss wasn’t what I wanted.
It wasn’t until I decided to take a leap, invest in myself, and learn the ins and outs of building a private practice that everything changed. That commitment transformed my life and led to the six-figure practice I run today. Now, you can find me in sunny Southern California, chasing after my two little boys, teaching grad students, running The Private Practice Pro, and helping therapists like you escape burnout and build a practice you actually love.
I’m probably sipping on a Poppi soda, catching up on my latest Audible book while running out the door (late) to pick up my son from preschool, and dreaming up new ways to help therapists build their dream practices.
Want to know what lights me up? Helping therapists take charge of their careers and scale their practices. I’ve had the honor of helping over 3,000 therapists build thriving businesses that are not only successful but also truly in service to their clients.
Building a thriving practice is just a series of steps, and you can do it without burning out along the way.
In case you’re new around here, I believe that the best private practices are built where service and strategy meet. I can’t wait to show you how to make that happen.
A FEW OF THE TITLES I PROUDLY ANSWER TO:
I’ve successfully launched and grown two private practices, consistently clearing 100k every year—without burning out or sacrificing precious time with my family.
As a mom of two young boys, I get it. I’ve shown up to sessions with spit-up on my shirt and running on just four hours of sleep. Balancing motherhood and a thriving practice? It’s possible.
I wrote Empathy Journal: A Book for Kids—a children’s book filled with prompts to help kids build compassion and better understand the feelings of others.
I’ve had the privilege of teaching in two graduate programs for Marriage and Family Therapy, where I love mentoring the next generation of therapists.
The only child of two entrepreneurs, entrepreneurship runs in my veins. My mother emigrated to the United States from Vietnam when she was 14, attended Columbia University, and later started her own successful company. Both my parents always encouraged me to start businesses. I’ll never forget my first product: “Cow Pie” shampoo. Let’s just say only my dad was brave enough to buy it!
ABOUT ME
-
I earned my undergraduate degree from Carleton College in Northfield, MN, and my graduate degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu. My education gave me a strong clinical foundation, but my much of my learning came from building a private practice from the ground up—and now, I love helping other therapists do the same.
-
Before diving into private practice full-time, I spent five years as a marketing director, learning firsthand what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to growing a business. Now, I bring that experience into my work as a professor at Pepperdine University and Antioch University, where I teach therapists how to navigate both the clinical and business sides of private practice. I’ve also led workshops for CAMFT, SimplePractice, and other professional organizations, and I share free, step-by-step guidance on my YouTube channel, where I break down everything from marketing to practice management in a way that’s clear and doable.
-
I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in California, and I’ve built and relocated a thriving six-figure practice across multiple cities. I know what it’s like to start from scratch, and I help therapists build practices that fit their lives—without the stress and overwhelm.
